While the planet Venus regularly passes between the Sun and the Earth, most of the time it passes above or below the Sun when observed from Earth. On rare occasions, the planet Venus passes directly in front of the Sun for observers on Earth. The last such Venus transits were in 2004 and 2012, respectively. The next such transit will be in 2117. The picture was taken at 18:54 PDT on June 5, 2012, from Tempe, Arizona, US. The telescope used was an 8" Schmidt-Cassegrain with ND5 filter; the camera was a Sony NEX5N with the APS sensor placed at prime focus. Clearly visible are the disk of the Sun, Venus as a prominent round spot. Several sun spots also appear on the solar disk.

图片说明 Während der Planet Venus regelmäßig zwischen der Sonne und der Erde vorbeizieht, befindet er sich von der Erde aus gesehen die meiste Zeit über oder unter der Sonne. In seltenen Fällen zieht der Planet Venus für Beobachter auf der Erde direkt vor der Sonne vorbei. Die letzten Venustransite dieser Art fanden 2004 bzw. 2012 statt. Der nächste Transit wird im Jahr 2117 stattfinden. Das Bild wurde am 5. Juni 2012 um 18:54 Uhr PDT von Tempe, Arizona, USA aus aufgenommen. Als Teleskop wurde ein 8"-Schmidt-Cassegrain mit ND5-Filter verwendet; die Kamera war eine Sony NEX5N mit APS-Sensor, die auf den Primärfokus eingestellt war. Deutlich sichtbar sind die Sonnenscheibe und die Venus als markanter runder Fleck. Auch mehrere Sonnenflecken sind auf der Sonnenscheibe zu sehen.
