Glossary term: Energía oscura

Description: La energía oscura es una de las hipótesis propuestas para explicar la expansión acelerada del Universo, que lleva produciéndose desde hace seis mil millones de años en las escalas más grandes. A menudo se describe la energía oscura como una «fuerza» opuesta a la gravedad. Los efectos de la energía oscura se deducen a partir de observaciones y mediciones indirectas de supernovas de tipo Ia, la radiación del fondo cósmico de microondas (CMB), cúmulos de galaxias, lentes gravitacionales y oscilaciones acústicas de bariones, que parecen indicar que la energía oscura constituye algo más del 70% de la composición del Universo. A pesar de ello, existen numerosas investigaciones y debates sobre la naturaleza de la energía oscura, si existen diferentes tipos de energía oscura, si la energía oscura cambia a lo largo del tiempo cósmico y las alternativas a la energía oscura.
