Glossary term: Energia escura

Description: A energia escura é uma causa proposta para a expansão acelerada do Universo, que vem ocorrendo nos últimos seis bilhões de anos em grandes escalas. A energia escura é frequentemente descrita como apresentando uma “força” oposta à gravidade. Os efeitos da energia escura são inferidos por meio de observações e medições indiretas de supernovas do tipo Ia, radiação cósmica de fundo em micro-ondas (CMB), aglomerados de galáxias, lentes gravitacionais e oscilações acústicas bariônicas, que parecem indicar que a energia escura representa pouco mais de 70% da composição do Universo. Apesar disso, há muita pesquisa e debate sobre a natureza da energia escura, se existem diferentes tipos de energia escura, se a energia escura muda ao longo do tempo cósmico e alternativas à energia escura.
