Glossary term: Sistema Solar

Description: Todos los objetos que se encuentran bajo la influencia gravitatoria del Sol forman parte del Sistema Solar. Además del Sol, situado en el centro, el Sistema Solar incluye los ocho planetas (Mercurio, Venus, la Tierra, Marte, Júpiter, Saturno, Urano y Neptuno), sus lunas, los planetas enanos, los asteroides, los cometas, los meteoroides y otros objetos del cinturón de Kuiper y más allá, así como los satélites artificiales y las sondas espaciales. Se cree que el Sistema Solar se extiende hasta 100 000 unidades astronómicas desde el Sol en lo que se denomina la Nube de Oort, compuesta por miles de millones de objetos helados.
