Glossary term: Nivel de energía

Description: Un nivel de energía es un estado cuántico discreto y permitido dentro de un átomo o una molécula. Se mide en electronvoltios (eV). Cuando un electrón en un átomo o molécula pasa de un nivel de mayor energía a otro de menor energía, se produce la emisión de un fotón con una energía igual a la diferencia de energía entre ambos niveles. Del mismo modo, un fotón puede ser absorbido por un átomo o una molécula si su energía es igual a la diferencia de energía entre el nivel actual y un nivel superior.
