Description: Um nível de energia é um estado quântico discreto de energia permitido dentro de um átomo ou molécula. É medido em elétrons-volts (eV). Quando um elétron em um átomo ou molécula passa de um nível de energia mais alta para um de energia mais baixa, isso faz com que um fóton seja emitido com uma energia igual à diferença de energia entre os dois níveis. Da mesma forma, um fóton pode ser absorvido por um átomo ou molécula se sua energia for igual à diferença de energia entre o nível atual e um nível mais alto.
