Description: Um planetário é um teatro com equipamentos especializados usados para visualizar fenômenos astronômicos. A maioria dos planetários consiste em sistemas de projeção especializados e uma cúpula hemisférica. Quando estrelas e planetas são projetados na cúpula, o público fica sentado sob um céu noturno artificial. Os projetores tradicionais, do tipo opto-mecânico, são construídos especificamente para simular o céu noturno. Já os planetários digitais, por outro lado, utilizam um ou mais projetores especializados, que podem projetar não apenas o céu noturno, mas qualquer tipo de imagem em movimento. Isso permite a exibição de “filmes em cúpula inteira” não apenas sobre astronomia, mas também sobre outros temas – o público pode viajar em uma nave espacial virtual, mas também explorar o micromundo do DNA humano, por exemplo.
