Glossary term: Telescópio óptico

Description: Um telescópio óptico é um instrumento usado para observar e estudar objetos astronômicos em luz visível (óptica). Os telescópios ópticos usam espelhos (um telescópio refletor) e/ou lentes (um telescópio refrator) para coletar e focalizar a luz. Os telescópios foram originalmente desenvolvidos para observar objetos distantes na Terra, mas logo se voltaram para o uso astronômico. Os telescópios podem variar em tamanho, desde alguns centímetros de diâmetro até diâmetros de mais de dez metros.
