Dalian No.20 High School Successfully Hosts "Astronomy+" Interdisciplinary Curriculum Development Workshop

Recently, the "Astronomy+" Interdisciplinary Curriculum Development Workshop, guided by the IAU Office of Astronomy for Education (IAU OAE) Center China, Nanjing and co-organized by the Informatization Working Committee of the Chinese Astronomical Society, was successfully held at Dalian No.20 High School. Based on the school's profound foundation in astronomy education, the teaching team of Dalian No.20 High School demonstrated the achievements of the "Chasing Light to Educate People" curriculum system, introduced the development history and characteristic accumulation of the school's astronomy education, and shared teaching practice experience and curriculum design ideas with the theme "Interdisciplinary Curriculum Development Based on Citizen Science". Experts from institutions such as the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Central China Normal University, Beijing Planetarium, Wuhan Science and Technology Museum, and High School Affiliated to Huazhong University of Science and Technology shared cutting-edge concepts of science education and practical experience in interdisciplinary integration through special reports and online exchanges. Participants of the workshop actively participated in discussions and practices, completed curriculum plan designs in groups and displayed their achievements, with enthusiastic on-site exchanges and frequent ideological collisions. During the event, experts from the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences held a cordial discussion with members of the astronomy club of Dalian No.20 High School, encouraging them to pursue their dreams bravely and look up at the stars. Teachers from Beijing Planetarium delivered a special lecture on "National Heavyweight Equipment" for students, helping them gain an in-depth understanding of the brilliant achievements of China's astronomical cause and broaden their scientific horizons.

This event has built a platform for interdisciplinary teaching exchange, promoted the effective implementation of science education, stimulated students' scientific interest and innovative spirit, and demonstrated Dalian No.20 High School's exploration in the field of science education. It has laid a solid foundation for the school to deepen the construction of the "Astronomy+" curriculum system in the future, and provided a referable practical sample for primary and secondary schools in the region to carry out interdisciplinary teaching. At the same time, it will further ignite students' enthusiasm for exploring the universe, help more teenagers continue to delve into the scientific path, and inject new vitality into the high-quality development of China's science education cause.
