Description: 공간을 통해 형태가 거의 변하지 않고 이동하는 모든 패턴을 파동이라고 합니다. 푸리에의 정리에 따르면, 이런 이동 패턴은 수학의 사인 함수처럼 일정한 간격으로 최대값과 최소값이 반복되는 "기본파동"의 합으로 이해할 수 있습니다. 이러한 규칙적인 기본파동에서 한 최대값과 다음 최대값 사이의 거리를 파장이라고 합니다. 천문학에서도 파동은 매우 중요한 역할을 합니다. 우리가 천체로부터 정보를 얻는 전자기 복사(빛)는 바로 파동 현상입니다. 또, 일부 관측 기술에서는 파동의 성질이 핵심적인 역할을 합니다. 음파는 별 내부의 구조를 이해하는 데 중요하며, 중력파는 천체에 대한 새로운 정보원으로 점점 더 중요한 연구 대상이 되고 있습니다.
