Glossary term: Mes
Description: En términos generales, un mes es un intervalo de tiempo vinculado al movimiento de la Luna alrededor de la Tierra. Existen diferentes tipos de meses, y cada uno de ellos está relacionado con distintos aspectos de la órbita lunar y su movimiento en la esfera celeste. Entre los diversos tipos de meses se incluyen sinódicos (basados en el ciclo de las fases); siderales (basados en la posición relativa respecto a las estrellas); anomalísticos (basados en el tamaño aparente, que está relacionado con la órbita elíptica de la Luna y, por lo tanto, con su distancia a la Tierra); y dracónicos (basados en el movimiento de la Luna en la esfera celeste). Cada uno de estos meses tiene una duración diferente que varía entre 27 y 29 días. Los calendarios de diversas culturas de todo el mundo se ajustan a los distintos tipos de meses, y las fiestas religiosas marcan los diversos ciclos de la Luna.
