We present CosmoGuesser, an inquiry-based, game-based learning puzzle board game for secondary astronomy education, developed within the ASTRO-EDU Erasmus+ project. Its core mechanic links gameplay directly to astrophysical reasoning: players use real observational signatures from six Caldwell catalog sky zones to deduce object identity through tiered information cards and a "Hypothesis Marker" mechanic rewarding reasoning under uncertainty. The puzzle itself enacts inquiry: players form hypotheses, test them against evidence, and revise as new clues appear. We discuss this design framework and welcome feedback before prototyping begins.

About Zahra Tavakoli Garmaseh

I am an MSc Physics student at Istanbul Kültür University, where my thesis explores the intersection of astrophysics education, game-based learning, and science communication, under the supervision of Prof. Ayşegül Yelkenci. I am designing original astronomy education game: CosmoGuesser, a causal-reasoning puzzle game for stellar astrophysics, and an inquiry-based puzzle board game built on the Caldwell catalog. I also authored the Teacher's Guide and instructional video for the project's "Lunar Landing Site Selection" classroom activity. My work focuses on translating astrophysical concepts into evidence-based, decision-driven game mechanics for secondary school learners.
