I am Getinet Feleke (Astrophysicist). I did my PhD in observational astronomy. Currently I am full time staff member at Kotebe Metropolitan University, Department of Physics. I am also adjunct staff at Ethiopian Space Science and Technology institute.

My name is Nebiyu Suleyman Mohammed. I have been the National Point of Contact for Ethiopia in Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) of the United Nations for over six years. Moreover, I am one of the members of the scientific committee in Ethiopian Space Science and Technology Institute.

Dr. Seblu Humne Negu is Astrophysicist. He has Bsc in Applied Physics, Msc in Quantum Field Theory and PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics, particularly, In Theoretical and Computational Astrophysics Network on Binary Stars , Compact Binaries and Astronomical data systems (Astronomy star Catalogues). He has an experience on the mass transfer in binary stars and compact binaries. Currently he is a Researcher and head of Astronomy and Astrophysics Research and Development Department at Entoto Observatory Research Center (EORC) of Ethiopian Space Science and Technology Institute (ESSTI).

Jerusalem Tamirat Teklu

Ms. Jerusalem Tamirat is a Ph.D. Student at Ariel University, Israel since October 2021. She received her MSc degree in 2020 in Astronomy and Astrophysics from Addis Ababa University (AAU) and Ethiopian Space Science and Technology Institute (ESSTI) joint postgraduate program and her BSc degree in Physics from Bahir-Dar University (BDU) in 2018. She was a staff member in the astronomy and astrophysics research and development department of ESSTI until October 2021. She was interested in studying the variability of quasars, active galactic nuclei, or extra-galactic astronomy in general under the department. She also has significant experience in various outreach activities and the organization of outreach programs for students and the public at large. Subsequently, she was designated as the National Representative of Ethiopia for the African Astronomical Society (AfAS) - Outreach Committee. Currently, her field of research and interest pertains to the detection and characterization of exoplanets.

Ms. Betelehem Bilata Woldeyes is an associate researcher at the Ethiopian Space Science and Technology Institute (ESSTI). She obtained her Master’s degree (MSc) in Astronomy and Astrophysics from Addis Ababa University, Entoto Observatory and Research Center (EORC) in 2019. She got her Bachelor's degree in 2016 from Debre Berhan University (DBU) in Physics. From August 2016 for over one year she worked as a graduate assistant at DBU. Then, after acquiring her Msc degree she became a lecturer at DBU. In February 2020, she started working at ESSTI in the Astronomy and Astrophysics Research and Development Department as an associate researcher. Since then, she has been engaged in researches in the field of Extragalactic Astronomy mainly focusing on the active galactic nuclei (AGN) and the formation and evolution of galaxies in general. She is also involved in different astronomical activities like outreach programs and organizing astronomical events. Throughout her academic years, especially from high school to university for over 5 years she has voluntarily taught and gave academic support for students in one of a Christian humanitarian aid organization.

Ethiopian Space Science and Technology Institute(ESSTI)and East Africa Regional office of Astronomy for Development(EA-ROAD)


Mr. Alemiye Mamo is Astronomer and science Communicator by profession. He has BSC and MSC in physics and currently pursues his PhD study in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Entoto Observatory Research Center (EORC) of the Ethiopian Space Science and Technology Institute.
