I am an associate professor in plant biology at University of M’sila. I have been practicing amateur astronomy, and in particular astrophotography, for more than twenty years and participated to various astronomy activities in Algeria and abroad. I am also a founding member of the Sirius Astronomy Association, a leading association in Algeria and the Arab World and Africa for promoting astronomy. I have participated in various observation campaigns like total solar eclipses (The 2006 and 2009 total solar eclipses from respectively Jalu in Libya and Hangzhou in China, the 2005 annular one from Batna, Algeria), as well as asteroid occultations campaigns, the Hale Bopp comet one, etc. In addition to that, I contributed to various educational events for young amateurs, and a workshop we organized in my hometown for IAU100 got the first prize in a worldwide competition

Middle School Teacher


I am a principal mathematics teacher at a Middle School. I always try to make connection between math and astronomy in classroom. From a young age (1999) I was a member and general secretary of the Albouzdjani Astronomy Association, with 40 members, teaching astronomy for amateurs. I have been head of the planetarium at the Center for Scientific Leisure at Médéa since 2012. I am president of the Arzachel Astronomy Club at Médéa.
Member of ICOP project, organizing monthly monitoring of the beginning of the lunar months, also a member of the AfAS (African Astronomical Society) Outreach Committee.

Labiad Hamza

I am a Postdoctoral researcher in Laboratory Astrophysics at Swansea University in United Kingdom. I do experimental research relevant to the interstellar medium and planetary ice analogues. Beside research, I am active in Astronomy & Physical Sciences outreach in Algeria and abroad. I was the lead of "Seeds of Researchers" project, which was a pioneering outreach project in France at the city of Rennes, where students and pupils from several levels have been trained on Exoplanets as a scientific research field.

Dr Kalli Siham

I am Assistant Professor of Theoretical Physics at Mohamed Boudiaf University, in M'sila - Algeria, I am also a theoretical astrophysicist, studying black holes and high energy cosmic rays. I am a Board member of the Arab Astronomical Society (ArAS), where I am in charge of media and public relations. I am also the webmaster of the ArAS website and I edit the ArAS newsletter. I am also a member of the scientific organizing committee of the ArAS School for Astrophysics. I have been also member of some scientific organizing committees for schools and conferences
I organize every year a masterclass for the Master2 students on Astronomy & Astrophysics for the past 4 years. I was on the executive board of the Sirius Astronomy Association.

Imene Khecha

My name is Imene Khecha, and I am a Middle School science teacher. I am a member for few years already of the “Sirius Astronomy Association”, a well-known astronomical society in Algeria and the Arab. The association focuses on providing astronomy education to Algerian society through multi-faceted outreach which is my passion. I have been part of the organizing team of the yearly Festivals in Popular Astronomy, the largest such meetings in North Africa which bring together amateurs and professional astronomers, as well as the general public.
I am also a member of the Radio broadcasting team of the weekly radio show «The Oasis of Science» on the regional Algerian radio station broadcasting from Constantine.
I have participated to a training workshop on Astronomy Teaching program (23 November 2019 at the (Ecole Normale Supérieure- Constantine) within the IAU100 program Open Astronomy Schools (OAS), as well as other science training workshops.
