Dr. Timm-Emanuel Riesen is the Director of the Stellarium Gornergrat, an observatory high above Zermatt in the Swiss alps. He holds a PhD in physics from the University of Bern, where his doctoral work focused on a mass spectrometer (DFMS) that flew on the Rosetta spacecraft to comet 67P. His background spans planetary sciences and observational astronomy. Dr. Riesen has combined research with long-standing teaching and educational engagement, including physics and IT teaching at gymnasium level and university-level physics laboratory instruction. He is an experienced observer on optical and sub-millimetre facilities on Mauna Kea in Hawaii and also worked with robotic telescopes and public outreach programs, and has contributed to the organization of national and international training activities.
