Brief biography: Robert Hollow is the Education Manager with CSIRO Astronomy and Space Science in Australia. Prior to joining CSIRO in 2003 he had almost 20 years experience teaching high school physics and science and co-wrote syllabi for Physics and Cosmology Distinction Courses in NSW. He runs the PULSE@Program for high school students, is a Committee Member of IAU Commission C1 Astronomy Education and Development and co-chairs the Working Group on Astronomy Education Research and Methods.

Jackie Bondell is a science education and outreach specialist. She is the Senior Education and Outreach Manager for both the ARC Centre of Excellence for Dark Matter Particle Physics and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery (OzGrav) and is based in Melbourne, Australia. She develops educational content for public outreach programs and curriculum for school engagement, focusing on incorporating innovative technology and science content into in-depth and curriculum-aligned education opportunities for students and teachers. Prior to 2018, Jackie spent 15 years as a Physics instructor in the US. During her teaching career, she was the recipient of multiple teaching awards, including the National Science Teachers Association Technology Award for Innovative Use of Technology in Science Teaching. She has led multiple workshops related to incorporating visualisation technology and current Physics research into the science classroom and has recently authored a chapter in a textbook on teaching contemporary Physics to secondary students. Jackie is the Chair of the Education and Outreach Chapter Steering Committee for the Astronomical Society of Australia, a National Astronomy Education Coordinator representing Australia to the Office of Astronomy for Education with the International Astronomy Union, and the Australian representative to the International Particle Physics Outreach Group.

Dodds Matt

ASTRO 3D


Matt Dodds is a High School Physics Teacher and avid Amateur Astronomer. He is an Education and Outreach officer for ASTRO3D, teacher affiliate for OzGrav and an adjunct lecturer for USQ's Centre for Astrophysics. He has a keen passion for Astronomy and Science Education. Matt had developed resources for ASTRO3D's YouTube channel on How to build a Smartphone Spectroscope and how to calculate Hubble's constant with data from type 1a supernova data. Matt is the coordinator of the annual Siding Spring Observatory Depth Study which takes over 50 students to Australia's best optical observatory. This annual event has run annually since 2019 and promotes astronomy and a deeper understanding of Astrophysics. Recently Matt has developed a Lego Duplo Interferometer that can be used to teach students the basics of how Gravitational Waves are detected. In 2023 Matt was the recipient of Highly Commended in the Prime Ministers Prize for Science Teaching in Secondary Schools.
