Glossary term: Curva de luz

Description: Una curva de luz es un gráfico que representa el brillo, la magnitud o el color de un objeto a lo largo del tiempo. Las curvas de luz se utilizan para estudiar diversos objetos astronómicos, como estrellas variables, sistemas binarios, exoplanetas, binarias de rayos X o supernovas. Las variaciones observadas en la curva de luz ayudan a clasificar el objeto y proporcionan información como la escala temporal o el periodo de variabilidad, lo que permite deducir datos importantes sobre él, como su naturaleza, la fuente de energía que lo alimenta o los tipos de procesos físicos que tienen lugar en él.
